Gas Meter Measurement and Safety

I. Diaphragm Gas Meter

The pressure differential generated by the gas flow drives the reciprocating motion of the diaphragm inside the meter. A mechanical linkage converts the diaphragm motion into rotational motion, ultimately recording the gas flow rate.

Common types include mechanical, IC card diaphragm, and intelligent diaphragm gas meters. Their core principle is volumetric measurement.

II. Ultrasonic Gas Meter

Ultrasonic gas meters use the transit time method to measure gas flow rate. This method measures the flow rate by measuring the difference in the velocity of the ultrasonic signal as it propagates downstream and upstream of the fluid. Because the transit time method minimizes the error caused by changes in sound velocity with fluid temperature, it offers high accuracy and is currently widely used.

III. Key Points for Safe Gas Meter Use

Regularly check the gas meter and pipe connections for leaks. Use detergent and water to test. If bubbles are found, report the problem promptly.

Replace the battery regularly to prevent leakage and damage to the gas meter.

When not using the gas for an extended period, close the meter valve and the stove valve, and remove the battery.


IV. Safe Gas Usage Regulations

It is strictly forbidden to use open flames to inspect the gas meter. Do not disassemble or strike the gas meter without permission.

Do not hang heavy objects or place items around the gas meter to prevent electromagnetic interference.

Maintain ventilation when using gas, and close the valve after use to prevent leaks.


V. Gas Meter Replacement Cycle

According to national regulations, the service life of a gas meter using natural gas as the medium generally does not exceed 10 years. Upon expiration, it must be replaced to prevent leaks caused by casing corrosion and aging seals.
