Interpreting the Nameplates of Water, Electricity, and Gas Meters

1. Water Meter

There are many parameters on a water meter nameplate. Below, using the Wuxi Zhongyi Intelligent Ultrasonic Water Meter as an example, we will explain some common ones:

1: Water Meter Model. The model name often reflects the key product features.

2: The maximum flow rate of the water meter during operation is 16 cubic meters per hour.

3: The meter's range ratio, which indicates that the maximum flow rate the meter can accurately measure is 250 times the minimum flow rate.

4: The diameter of the water meter's inlet and outlet is 40 mm.

5: Installation Direction.

6: The maximum allowable operating pressure of the water meter is 1.6 MPa.

7: The water meter's pressure loss rating, which indicates the pressure drop caused by water flowing through the meter is 40 kPa.

8: The operating water temperature of the water meter is 0.1 to 30°C.

9: The distance between the front and rear of the meter. "U" refers to the upstream sensitivity level. "U10" means that a straight pipe section 10 times the meter diameter is required at the upstream water inlet of the meter. "D" represents the downstream sensitivity level. "D5" indicates that a straight pipe section 5 times the meter diameter is required at the downstream water outlet.

II. Electricity Meter

There are many parameters on the meter nameplate. Below, we will use the Wuxi Zhongyi Smart Prepaid Meter as an example to explain some of the most common ones:

5: 5A: Refers to the basic current of the meter. 60A: The meter's maximum rated current, indicating the maximum current it can sustain while ensuring accurate measurement and preventing damage. 6: Frequency

8: Pulse Constant. For every kWh of electricity measured, the internal pulse indicator will flash 120 times, or the electronic display will record 120 pulse signals.

10: Compliance with IEC Standards

11: Waterproof Rating


III. Gas Meter

There are many parameters on the gas meter nameplate. Below, we will explain some common ones using the Wuxi Zhongyi Intelligent Ultrasonic Gas Meter as an example:

1: Under rated operating conditions, the maximum gas flow rate at which the gas meter can operate stably and accurately over a long period of time without damage is 2.5 m³/h.

2: Under rated operating conditions, the minimum gas flow rate at which the gas meter can operate stably and accurately over a long period of time without damage is 0.016 m³/h.
