Smart Meter Fee Control Function
I. What is "Fee Control"?
The fee control system solves the traditional electricity fee collection problem through automated and intelligent fee management, reducing operating costs and improving user experience. It is the core technological foundation of smart grid user-side management.
Local Fee Control: Local fee control completes real-time electricity fee calculation and control within the smart meter, possessing independent operating capabilities. Users interact with the meter through solid-state media such as IC cards and RFID cards, or virtual media such as infrared and Bluetooth. The meter stores electricity price information and calculates the remaining amount in real time. When the balance is insufficient, it automatically triggers an alarm or cuts off power, achieving closed-loop management of "in-meter billing and in-meter control." This mode is suitable for areas with poor communication conditions.

Remote Fee Control: Electricity billing in remote fee control is completed within the remote electricity sales system, with the electricity meter only responsible for executing control commands. The meter does not store electricity price information, only providing electricity metering data. The system calculates fees based on the collected electricity data and issues power on/off commands via the communication network, achieving a "back-end billing, in-meter execution" division of labor. This model relies on a stable communication network.

II. What are the advantages of "fee control"?
1. Prepaid Metering: Users pre-pay for electricity, and the meter dynamically calculates usage based on remaining electricity.
2. Balance Reminder: When the remaining electricity falls below a set threshold, the meter will remind the user to purchase electricity promptly via screen notifications or app messages.

3. Automatic Power Off and Resumption: If the electricity is depleted, the system automatically cuts off power; power is immediately restored after recharging, requiring no manual operation.
4.Remote Control and Monitoring: The power company can remotely monitor electricity consumption and issue commands through the back-end, avoiding manual inspections.

5. Multi-rate and time-of-use billing system: It can distinguish between peak and off-peak electricity consumption periods, realize a more reasonable electricity price structure, and guide users to use electricity during off-peak hours.
